Whatever people design, create, work for, or buy, belongs to them. A person's home, work product, personal belongings, and currency are as proper to them as their liberty, speech, or any other freedom.

Federal law must defend private property, even at the expense of individual property owners standing in the way of the expansion and development schemes of local governments. I oppose the concept and use of eminent domain. The US Constitution is a wonderful foundation, but it is not perfect, and the framers were not infallible.

As the junior senator from Wisconsin, I will fight for private property rights and ask hard questions of Supreme Court nominees as to their support for private property rights.
